Brand new role due to expansion - We are looking for a mid to senior software engineer who enjoys working on systems that actually keep a business moving. Orders, payments, stock, warehouses the kind of software that needs to work first time, every time.
The team is looking for a strong PHP Developer with SQL ideally operating between mid and senior level. Someone who's comfortable working independently, making sensible technical decisions, and taking ownership without needing everything perfectly defined up front. It's a pragmatic environment, not a theoretical one.
A lot of the work sits in established PHP and SQL systems that support e-commerce and fulfilment operations. The codebases are large, sometimes messy, and undeniably important. The expectation isn't to rewrite everything it's to understand what's there, improve it incrementally, and deliver changes safely into production.
Day to day, this engineer will investigate problems, spot practical solutions, and work closely with operational and commercial teams to balance technical ideals with real-world constraints. Clear communication matters, especially when explaining trade-offs or managing expectations outside of engineering.
Quality still counts. There's a strong focus on reliable systems, accurate data, and clean, maintainable code applied with common sense rather than dogma. Knowing when something is "good enough" is just as important as knowing how to make it perfect.
Alongside the core systems, there's genuine opportunity to work on more modern platforms over time. That might mean building serverless services on AWS, getting hands-on with TypeScript, or using AI-assisted tooling to improve development speed and insight. Curiosity is key they're happy to support someone growing into these areas rather than expecting mastery on day one.
The team itself is lean, trusted, and low on unnecessary process. Engineers are expected to think, act, and take ownership in an operationally critical environment. It's collaborative, practical, and respectful with plenty of room to have an opinion and make an impact.
This role suits someone who enjoys solving real business problems, is comfortable working across both legacy and modern systems, and values delivery, reliability, and teamwork.
