Role: Senior Java Developer
Salary/Rate: £550-650 per day inside IR35
Location: Hybrid,
3 days per week - multiple locations available
Contract Duration: 12 months

We are currently looking for a Senior Java Developer for our government client.

This Senior Java Developer role is hybrid, based between 3 days per week on site and the remainder of the week working from home. Office locations include Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham or Newcastle, as preferred. There is no further flexibility with expected time on site, or the office locations.

Interview Process: The process is 3-stages:

  1. Initial sift of cvs / screening
  2. Maze test to be returned within 5 days or automatic fail
  3. A 2-hour technical based Teams interview

The contract for this Senior Java Developer position is for 12 months, with potential to extend, operating inside IR35.

Security Clearance: eligible for Security Check (SC Clearance)

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Essential Skills / Experience required:

  • Recent experience with Java 21 (or later).
  • Excellent understanding of TDD and BDD.
  • Experience with large microservice architectures.
  • Experience of working in an Agile
  • Be willing to work in a pair programming environment.
  • Have experience in implementing APIs for internal and external use.
  • Have the skills to build up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment
  • Be involved in the wider web development community, identifying good practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences.
  • Have an ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Have working knowledge of Unix-like operating systems such as Linux and/or Mac OS X.
  • Can quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques.
  • Understand of the use of Responsive Web Design.
  • Flexible/adaptable. Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Copes effectively with complexity and change.
  • Takes responsibility/ownership. Proactively removes blockers to ensure that work is delivered. Can produce significant output with minimal wasted effort.
  • High standards. Is committed to quality and is therefore willing to challenge colleagues and to constantly question their own approach.
