Senior IT Systems Engineer - Central London (Hybrid) - Salary up to £52K
A respected UK not-for-profit organisation based in Central London is looking to add a Senior IT Systems Engineer to join its IT team. In this role, you'll take the lead on maintaining, strengthening and securing the organisation's IT infrastructure nationwide.
What you'll bring:
- Hands-on expertise administering Microsoft platforms - including Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint, OneDrive and Sophos
- In-depth knowledge of Azure cloud services, from designing and deploying cloud infrastructure to managing Azure Backup
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing/switching, VPNs, firewalls, WAN links and wireless setups
- Track record of running VMware vSphere/ESXi environments
- Familiarity with Veeam Backup & Replication and building solid disaster recovery plans
- Confidence writing PowerShell scripts to automate and streamline admin tasks
- Certifications in Microsoft, Azure, networking or cyber security would be a strong plus
What you'll be doing:
- Owning the organisation's full infrastructure estate - keeping cloud and on-prem systems reliable, high-performing and future-ready
- Managing and improving Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and related services
- Designing and running backup, disaster recovery and business continuity plans to protect essential systems
- Leading infrastructure projects such as cloud migrations, upgrades and platform modernisation
- Serving as the go-to expert for tricky infrastructure problems, providing senior-level 3rd line support
- Partnering with internal teams, technology vendors and suppliers to keep IT services running smoothly
- Shaping infrastructure strategy and technical roadmaps as part of the wider IT vision
