Role: Commercial Officer
Salary/Rate: £450-550 per day inside IR35
Location: remote - UK based
Contract Duration: 3-months
We are currently looking for a Commercial Officer for our government client.
This Commercial Officer role is remote with potential for occasional site visits, as required.
The contract for the Commercial Officer position is for 3-months, with potential to extend, operating inside IR35.
Security Clearance: Security Check (SC Clearance)
This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.
Essential skills/experience required:
You'll have a demonstrable passion for Commercial Management and Procurement, with the following skills or strong experience in:
- Building strong, strategic relationships with the ability to understand, empathise, negotiate and influence individuals and groups
- Collaborating with product, delivery and finance colleagues to ensure alignment of requirements and process
- Recent experience of working in the commercial delivery of technology
- Strategic thinking skills with the ability to turn longer term goals and business outcomes into strategic and tactical solutions as required
- Advising your team and programme colleagues on deciding the best approach, helping them to understand governance and timeframes for delivery of commercial requirements
Desirable criteria:
- MCIPS
Role / Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement and contract lifecycles for key software, hardware, and services suppliers - including re‑competition, negotiated extensions, early termination, and competitive selection exercises.
- Build strong stakeholder and supplier relationships, ensuring effective commercial governance and smooth delivery across all engagements
- Work closely with delivery, operations, and partners alongside the Commercial Lead/G7 and fellow Commercial SEO/ACM.
- Advise on procurement routes, commercial risks, opportunities, and cost‑saving strategies.
- Lead supplier negotiations, shaping services and commercial terms.
- Drive regular performance reviews with suppliers, assessing value, delivery, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with programme teams to track benefits and ensure strong commercial governance.
