IT Support Engineer (Finance) - Onsite - Manchester - £37K
An IT Support Engineer is required for a growing finance company based in the heart of Manchester. The company relies on technology and specialist software to serve clients, manage risk and meet regulatory requirements.
The IT Support Engineer will be first point of contact for technical issues across the business, combining day-to-day IT support with hands-on support for the software applications our teams depend on. It's a varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting colleagues and building deeper technical skills.
Key responsibilities
- Provide friendly, efficient support to staff by phone, email and in person
- Log, prioritise and resolve incidents and service requests in our ticketing system
- Set up, configure and maintain laptops, desktops, mobile devices and peripherals
- Manage user accounts, permissions and access in Active Directory and Microsoft 365
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, printing and remote access issues
- Escalate complex issues to 3rd line or suppliers and follow them through to resolution
- Onboard new starters and manage leavers' access and equipment
- Support data queries, integrations and reports with basic SQL where needed
- Install, update and patch applications, and support testing during upgrades and releases
- Support audit and regulatory requirements, including access reviews and asset records
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in a 1st/2nd line IT support or service desk role
- Good working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
- Proficient networking experience (WAN/LAN/VLAN, Wi-fi)
- Experience supporting business software applications (.NET/PHP)
- Strong organisation and a sense of ownership for seeing issues through
Desirable
- Basic SQL, PowerShell or other scripting
- Experience with SQL or MySQL databases
- Cisco Routing and switching experience
- Familiarity with Entra ID/Azure AD, Intune, networking fundamentals or virtualisation
- ITIL knowledge or certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+ or Microsoft MS-900/MD-102
