IT Infrastructure Engineer (MSP)
North London (Islington, N1) - Office Based & Client Sites
£40,000 - £50,000 DOE + Travel Expenses + Gym Membership
A growing MSP & ISP based in Islington is looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join their close-knit technical team. Supporting over 80 clients across London, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys a blend of project work, infrastructure ownership, networking, and advanced support.
Working alongside experienced engineers and company founders, you'll act as an escalation point for complex technical issues while taking ownership of server, storage, networking and data centre technologies across a diverse client base.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is equally comfortable configuring virtual infrastructure as they are installing equipment in a rack or visiting client sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced 2nd/3rd line support and act as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Manage and maintain Windows Server and Hyper-V environments.
- Support and administer storage solutions including iSCSI and Synology platforms.
- Configure, maintain and troubleshoot switching infrastructure including UniFi, Dell and Aruba.
- Manage VLANs, network segmentation and routing.
- Support firewall and VPN technologies including pfSense.
- Carry out server installations, upgrades and migrations.
- Perform physical rack builds, equipment installations and data centre work.
- Assist with infrastructure projects across client environments.
- Conduct occasional on-site visits to client locations across London.
- Participate in an ad-hoc on-call rota when required.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and support records.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working within an MSP environment.
- Strong experience supporting Windows Server infrastructure.
- Experience administering Hyper-V environments.
- Good understanding of storage technologies including iSCSI and Synology.
- Networking experience covering switching, VLANs and routing.
- Experience supporting firewalls and VPN connectivity.
- Comfortable working within server rooms and data centre environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with pfSense firewalls.
- Exposure to BGP routing.
- Experience supporting larger or more complex network environments.
- Previous involvement in infrastructure migrations and project delivery.
