Staff Availability Falls in August 2015
A joint report on jobs by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG has found that the availability of both permanent and temp/contract staff continued to deteriorate in August 2015. The latest fall was the sharpest in over a year.
Lower staff availability was signalled across all UK regions, with the Midlands seeing the sharpest reduction.
Circle MD Steve Ricketts feels the reason is due to not just a lack of enough skilled workers, but also due to an increase in vacancy numbers. "Even if the candidate pool grows, if this growth is less than the growth of vacancies, we will continue to see such reports. The key advice for any hirer struggling to attract talent, is to choose their recruitment partner wisely and in particular, assess their candidate attraction methods".
"We are satisfying the demand of our clients for two reasons. Firstly, we are the highest advertiser per head in the UK, as confirmed by Jobserve, and secondly we proactively headhunt the passive candidate pool. These two factors mean that we place the bulk of our candidates before our competitors are even aware that they are open to interviews - which of course keeps our customers happy!"
