Senior Civil Engineer

Opportunity: Senior Civil Engineer
Salary: £340 - £ 446 per day (inside IR35)
Location: Remote - one visit to Manchester office per month
Contract Duration: 12 months

We are currently looking for a Senior Civil Engineer for our government client. This Senior Civil Engineer role is based working remotely, with occasional meetings in Manchester once per month.

The contract for the Senior Civil Engineer position is initially for 12 months with potential to extend, offering a daily rate within the range of £ 340 to £ 446, operating inside IR35.

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Role Profile/Responsibilities:

  • STE02 experience essential - must have proof/certificate evidence
  • Rail or structure background
  • Chartered or Incorporated Civil / Structural Engineer
  • Have undertaken principal / detailed inspections of bridges, structures, and tunnels in a rail context
  • Must be able to hit ground running
  • Review results of Structures examination and recommend actions where necessary (ST02 level 3 competent essential)
  • Proven abilities in structures assessment, design, and construction.
  • STE2 Competent experienced reviewer in accordance with NR/SP/CTM/017
  • STE6 Tunnel Engineering knowledge with a view to obtaining this competency
  • BCMI certified
  • The review of structures examination reports in accordance with standards and confirming recommendations for action to safely and sustainably manage the assets.
  • Assessing risks of structural defects to inform prioritised actions in accordance with standards and asset management policy.
  • Undertake site examinations, within own sphere of competence, for non-routine structures and tunnels.
  • Undertake site checks/audits to ensure examination report quality and compliance.
  • Undertake designated specialist responsibilities e.g. Large and Unique Structures examinations, tenanted arches, additional exams on sensitive structures, coastal defence exams, underwater exams, annual competence reviews etc.
  • Support the training and development of engineers and inspectors in the examination process.
  • Provide engineering support and participate in investigations of incidents relating to structures.
  • Support the review and development of national standards relating to structures Asset Management.
  • Liaise with the other structures teams to develop and disseminate asset knowledge, consistent best practice and in the review and development of functional policy and standards.
  • Support initiatives to develop the buildings & civils strategic direction and input to the CP6 bid process in the route and supporting negotiations with regulatory bodies.
